Aflatoxin M1

Available for both milk and dairy products.

Aflatoxin M1 is a fungal toxin that can be found in milk as a result of the animal consuming feed that contains aflatoxins. The toxin is very potent and can affect humans at very low levels.

Analysis involves extracting samples with an organic solvent followed by a clean-up procedure using solid phase extraction.  The extract is then analysed by LC-MS/MS.  Levels as low as 2 ppt can be detected in raw milk.
