Lactulose and Furosine

Why Test for Furosine and Lactulose?

The Chinese market requires verification milk (in particular UHT) has not been adulterated with milk powder.  Furosine and lactulose are used as indicators of such adulteration.  The method is applicable to both milk and dairy products.

Results are reported per 100 g of protein.  If the protein level is not known then we will need to test the sample for protein.

How to Submit a Sample

5 mL of sample is all that is required for both furosine and lactulose. An additional 15 mL of sample would be needed for the protein test.
